Naga Chaitanya pinned a lot of his hopes on Custody which is directed by Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. The film released in theaters the other day, 12 May and it opened to a disappointing word of mouth.
Coming to the USA box office collections, Custody has started on a very poor note with the opening day collection and premieres tally combining to $143,691.
This is one of the poorest starts for Chay in recent times. There are reports that the film could close the run at the USA box office by collecting around $200-250K which will mean that it will end up as a mega disaster.
The film is released in the USA by Prathyangira Cinemas. The same distributor had previously released Akhil’s Agent which is another epic disaster.
Custody was promoted as a content-driven film and it needed to strike a chord with its content, which sadly in this case, didn’t happen. The end result is that the film is ending up as a huge disaster. The domestic collections are also utterly poor.
