According to a report by the Washington Post revealed that US police have killed at a rate of more than two persons a day this year. There are no complete official federal statistics available regarding these killings and so the Washington Post used its own tally.

These killings are more prevalent in black and other minority communities. According to the laws, the countries police agencies are not required to report such killings and so the Newspaper had used its own tracking to arrive at the count.
The date also revealed blacks were killed at three times the rate of other minorities or whites in the police killings. Most of the people killed were armed with potentially lethal objects like guns, but also knives and other items. Sixteen percent were carrying a toy or were unarmed.
