There is a very clear propaganda to project KGF 2 as a bigger hit than RRR. After the film got off to a bright start at the domestic and USA box office, many tipped the film to have a sensational run at the USA box office. But in reality, after a $4.15 million (all languages) opening weekend, KGF 2 has dropped big time.
KGF 2 has dropped big time on its second Friday as it made just $93K (South languages). To put that into perspective, RRR made a whopping $422K on its second Friday, which is close to 5X that of KGF 2’s second Friday tally. In fact, RRR’s 3rd Friday tally – $150K is higher than KGF 2’s second Friday tally.
A few people are now trying to cover KGF 2’s drops, saying its a dubbed film and moreover a mass film which will mostly bank on openings. But that wasn’t the case first up. KGF 2 had the super strong sequel advantage and it was projected as if it is on the scale of Baahubali 2, which had the sequel advantage after Baahubali 1.
Those with vested interests tried to project KGF 2 as a bigger box office giant than RRR. But despite the sequel advantage, KGF 2 is not even remotely close to RRR.
