Valentine’s week has brought us a rather odd matchup of movies ready to collide. On one side, we have the next installment of Captain America, while on the other, we have a story of valor in Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Who will rule the Indian box office?
At face value, it seems like a clean sweep. Captain America: Brave New World has the backing of the insane money-making machine that is Disney. Moreover, the MCU has recently made a positive comeback. However, several factors might turn the tide.

This is Valentine’s week we are talking about. And although Chhaava is a historical epic, Bollywood always finds a way to incorporate a love story, for better or worse. The Valentine’s collections will come from couples who may prefer a fresh new story featuring the darling of Bollywood, Vicky Kaushal, over the continuity-driven MCU movies.
The MCU might have made a significant comeback, but it has definitely lost a huge chunk of its audience. The upcoming movie requires viewers to be up to date with the Disney+ shows, bringing complaints of continuity fatigue back into the mix.

Chhaava, despite going up against a giant franchise, has a promising future. Forecasts predict earnings of 20 crore rupees, which is quite high compared to the 6 to 7 crore forecast for Captain America: Brave New World at the Indian box office.
