Vamshi Paidipally has always been seen as a safe commercial director who delivers hits with star heroes. Except for his debut Munna with Prabhas, every film he made turned into a box office success. This includes Brindavanam with Jr. NTR, Yevadu with Ram Charan, Maharshi with Mahesh Babu, and Varisu with Vijay.
However, one common backlash remains. While these movies perform well during release, they do not have strong repeat value. They fade out of conversation quickly and have very little recall value.
Since Varisu released in 2023, Vamshi has not announced any new Telugu film. For a while, there were strong rumours that he was developing a script for Aamir Khan. The discussions happened, but the project did not move forward.
But that story did not end there. The same script has now reportedly been approved by Salman Khan. At the ongoing IFFI event in Goa, Sri Venkateswara Creations co-founder Shirish confirmed that the Vamshi Salman project is happening. The film is going to be an action oriented ‘safe’ family drama. He also said the official announcement will be made soon.
Along with this update, Shirish revealed that SVC is in talks with Pawan Kalyan for a separate project. Those details will be shared later. Meanwhile, they are also working on a Hindi remake of Sankranthiki Vastunnam, and Akshay Kumar has been finalized for the lead role.
Right now, Dil Raju’s production house SVC has nearly eight films in development. Six of them are expected to be released next year. The year 2025 was extremely mixed for them. Game Changer was a spine breaking disaster. Sankranthiki Vastunnam was a big relief. Then Thammudu again was a washout.
For Vamshi Paidipally, this Salman film will be crucial. It marks his direct entry into Bollywood. Success here could define the next phase of his career and shape his image not as a safe director but as a pan Indian filmmaker.
