Vassishta’s Big Talk on Vishwambhara: Confidence or Overconfidence?

Vassishta Chiranjeevi Vishwambhara

Vishwambhara has already been delayed several times, but director Vassishta sounded surprisingly confident while speaking at Megastar Chiranjeevi’s birthday celebrations. Instead of worrying about the delay, he seemed more interested in talking about what the film will do once it finally reaches theatres.

That confidence is fine, but some of his comments do make you wonder whether it is slowly turning into overconfidence. The film still doesn’t have a clear release date, the audience has been waiting for quite some time and yet the director is already making strong statements about its box-office impact. That is a bold place to be in.

The bigger issue is the expectations around the film. Vishwambhara is not a small movie where such comments can easily pass. It has Chiranjeevi, a fantasy backdrop, a big budget and heavy VFX. Naturally, expectations are already high. When the director talks about the film in such a confident manner, people will expect the final output to match every bit of that confidence.

There is also a difference between believing in your film and trying to convince everyone that it will be a blockbuster before anyone has seen it. After so many delays, the team probably needs to show the audience something first. A release date, a strong promo or fresh content could do more at this point than big box-office predictions.

Taking extra time for VFX is understandable. But once Vishwambhara arrives, the film alone will decide whether Vassishta was confidently right or simply a little overconfident.
