Leader of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his bid to impress the people sat for an indefinite fast today in Guntur demanding the special status to the state. Usually it should be a big event as people believe that Special Status is a sanjeevini for the state problems, but Jagan’s Deeksha could not garner the support of the people or the media. The Prime reason for this is Jagan is not sounding genuine for the cause and is seen mostly as a power monger.

The timing of the Deeksha is also bad as it precedes Amaravati foundation stone laying ceremony. Already the Deeksha was postponed several times taking the seriousness of it. People are in a mood to wait and see till Modi’s visit to take an opinion in this issue. By the time it really happens, Jagan will be in hospital or come out of the Deeksha. Even the media is busy with covering details of Amaravati event and has no time to cover Jagan.
Also anyways Jagan will only target Chabdrababu who do not have a say in this issue and for all that reasons, the deeksha is appearing pointless. Actor Sivaji also tried a similar Deeksha with the same day. After failing to have the support of people or media, he had to leave it behind. Only plus point Jagan has over Shivaji is that presence of a own media house. We will have to see that if it really makes a difference at the end.
