There is a strange problem with the promotions of Ranabaali. The film has a big story to tell, but Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s personal story seems to be getting more attention than the movie itself.
Their marriage naturally creates curiosity. When the two stars appear together, questions about their relationship are almost unavoidable. But when film promotions repeatedly revolve around their personal lives, the actual reason they are sitting for those interviews can slowly disappear.
That is where Ranabaali needs a course correction. Rahul Sankrityan has spoken about the extensive research behind the film, including his travels through Rayalaseema villages and the real-life incidents that inspired the story. The film is set against a pre-Independence drought situation and reportedly involved years of groundwork. There is clearly enough material to sell the movie without relying on the couple angle.
Vijay and Rashmika should now start talking more about what they actually went through for Ranabaali. Their characters, the period setting, the shooting experience, the physical preparation and the scale of the film can create a much stronger conversation around the release.
The Vijay-Rashmika relationship will always generate attention. But Ranabaali cannot afford to become just another chapter in that story. The stars are already the attraction. Now they need to make the film the conversation.
