Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film with Gopichand Malineni. The project is said to be a Mumbai-based gangster action entertainer.
Even before completing this film, discussions have started about his next move. Several projects are under consideration, and industry buzz suggests strong competition between a few directors.
One key option is a film with Vivek Athreya, backed by Mythri Movie Makers. Though not officially announced, sources say the project is almost finalised.
Balakrishna is reportedly impressed with the script. It is said to offer a fresh narrative compared to his usual commercial films, which makes it an interesting choice.
At the same time, Vijay Kanakamedala is also in the race. The director, known for Naandhi, has narrated a story that Balakrishna liked.
This project is expected to be produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri. With a controlled budget, it is seen as a practical option that can be completed quickly.
As of now, Balakrishna has not taken a final call. He is focused on finishing his current film before deciding which project to begin next.
Earlier, Harish Shankar was also being considered. However, after the underperformance of Ustaad Bhagat Singh, that combination seems unlikely.
There is also a noticeable shift in Balakrishna’s approach. After the setback of Akhanda 2, he appears to be more cautious about script selection.
He had earlier planned a historical film with Gopichand Malineni but dropped it due to budget concerns. Instead, he chose a safer commercial project.
In the current film, Nayanthara plays the female lead, adding strong appeal. The makers are targeting a festive release, possibly during Dasara or Diwali.
If those timelines do not work out, Sankranti 2027 is being considered as a backup. The team is aiming for the most suitable release window.
For now, Balakrishna is taking a careful approach. With multiple options and changing market trends, his next decision could shape his upcoming phase in Telugu cinema.
