Watch: Legendary Muralitharan About Tollywood

A film based on Muthiah Muralidaran has been made by Movie Train Motion Pictures. The biopic of the former Sri Lankan cricketing great is titled ‘800’. Sivalenka Krishna Prasad of Sridevi Movies, who owns all India theatrical rights to the film, is going to release ‘800’ on October 6 in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.

Muralidaran has become media-savvy to promote the movie in Telugu and other languages. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, he said that his first and only major condition when director MS Sripathy started penning ‘800’ was that his life shouldn’t be fictionalized. This is in sharp contrast to how biopics are made in Indian cinema.

Shot in actual locations related to Muralidaran’s life, ‘800’ belongs to the realism school. The icon suggests that the film will have many takeaways because most of the story hasn’t been known to the general public. The selection process itself saw some unknown incidents. Sports enthusiasts are expected to get a thorough understanding of the behind-the-curtains dynamics.

He also reveals that Natural Star Nani’s movies such as ‘Jersey’, ‘Eega’ and ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ fascinate him. “Nani’s films give primacy to drama and emotions,” he says.

‘800’, whose music is by Ghibran, will be released in Sinhalese in Sri Lanka and other countries where Sinhalese-speaking people live.
