Varun Tej talked about how Operation Valentine happened, how he was initially skeptical about giving a chance to a newcomer, etc. “Operation Valentine is an intense subject and it also comes with a lot of responsibility. I doubted giving a chance to a newcomer initially. But director Shakthi came up with a small showreel and with that I trusted him,” he said.

He also explained why he is going the extra mile in promoting the film. We asked him if promoting the film in Military bases etc would translate into footfalls. “Definitely No. There is no doubt we are doing it for marketing. These promotions will only help in registering that there is a film and it is releasing on March 1st. Nothing beyond that,” he said.

We asked him about the comparisons with Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter. Also, his opinion about Fighter director Siddharth Anand said that the movie did not connect because the majority of the Indians did not experience air travel.

“I do not know in which context he told that. But I do not think that is necessary. It is just about how we engross the audience in the story we tell,” Varun Tej said.

The actor also said he is ready to campaign for Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena.

We also asked him about who in the family was most excited when Chiranjeevi got the Padma Vibhushan award. He has an interesting answer to say.
