Suriya is going through a bad phase in his career. With Masss, which was supposed to give him a hit, he has scored two flops in a row. His last film Anjaan was a disaster compared to Masss, which had a decent start at the box-office but couldn’t sustain.

What’s surprising is that Suriya lost the box-office battle to actor-choreographer Lawrencce whose Kanchana 2 recently raked in over INR 100 crore at the box-office. Masss failed to beat Kanchana 2 at the opening weekend in cinemas. In fact, even after the release of Masss, Lawrence’s film is going strong in theaters. The reason these two films are being compared because they belong to the same genre yet Mass failed to do the magic.
Even in Telugu, Masss did poor business compared to Ganga, which registered a terrific opening. Suriya is slowly losing the market value he had developed over the years with hits such as Ghajini and Singam franchise. The actor has pinned high hopes on Vikram Kumar’s 24, which he himself is producing. He also has Singam 3 in his kitty.
