Why 100 years of Indian cinema attracted controversy?

From actress Kavita to Naryana Murthy to Kannada superstar Jaggdeesh, several popular actors across industries were not invited for the ongoing centenary fete of Indian cinema. One wonders what could be the reason because even actors who are just a few years old were invited for the event.

While actress Kavita was upset that she was not even invited for the event, veteran filmmaker Narayana Murthy totally condemned the event as he felt it was like watching a ‘record dance’ program or cultural program in other words. He wanted the event to be special, but not like an audio function.

Similarly, Kannada comedian Jaggdeesh, who was promised by the organizers to be allowed to perform was turned down in the last minute. He was so upset that he decided to skip the event. He said he is happy with the love and respect given to him by Kannada audience.

Even in Tamil, legends like K. Balachander. S.P Muthuraman and Cho Ramswamy were not honored while actresses like Trisha, Simran and even Meena were awarded. In Telugu, actors such as Nagarjuna, Dasari Narayana Rao and several others didn’t even attend the program.
