Superstar Rajinikanth made a stunning comeback with “Jailer,” grossing over 600Cr and smashing records in Tamil cinema.
However, his recent film “Lal Salaam,” directed by his daughter Aishwarya and featuring him in a cameo, flopped terribly.
The film suffered from poor promotion and a weak genre choice, failing to generate excitement. Negative word of mouth further killed its box office prospects.
In Telugu, it was an outright washout, unable to cover its costs. In Tamil, it’s on track to be a massive flop.
Especially in AP&TS, where it struggled to cross ₹50 Lakhs, its box office performance was shockingly low. Nizam’s lifetime share might not even reach 12 Lakhs, which is embarrassing. Even re-runs of his old blockbusters might fetch better numbers.
Overall, “Lal Salaam” represents Rajinikanth’s worst flop in his five-decade career, with dismal performance across the board.
