Yash Raj Films is one of the biggest production houses in Bollywood. It has completed 50 golden years since its inception. But the 50th year has been anything but good for them.
They have been delivering disasters after disasters post-pandemic. Bunty Aur Babli 2, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, and now the latest one, Shamshera.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera had a disastrous first weekend of just 32 crores when the trade was expecting it to cross 30 crores on its first day itself. On Monday, the film has fallen like a pack of cards, and it would be a wonder if it crossed the 3-crore mark.
The film has done badly even overseas, with just $1.3 Million worldwide collections.
But some are still optimistic that this spate of films was a pre-covid quota, and the Yash Raj banner is now relieved that almost all of these films have been done with. Now they have an exciting lineup that includes some of the most-awaited films like SRK’s Pathaan and Salman Khan’s Tiger 3.
Let’s hope 2023 will turn out to be the year of Golden Jubilee celebrations for YRF.
