When a director approaches a major South Indian superstar, it is usually expected that a fully prepared bound script is presented. That has always been the norm, especially when dealing with big stars who carry massive fan followings.
However, the upcoming Kannada film Toxic starring KGF star Yash is breaking that tradition. Director Geetu Mohandas revealed in an interview that she does not have a complete script ready and instead develops it during the shoot.
She explained that for the first time she worked with a group of writers, but they walked away after observing her process. According to her, she does not follow the traditional formula of protagonist, antagonist, or character arcs, and prefers to discover her path gradually while working.
This statement has shocked many as Geetu Mohandas is handling a project with one of the biggest stars of Kannada cinema. Yash rose to global fame after the KGF franchise and fans expected his next film to be tightly scripted.
His fans are now worried because they feel this approach may not do justice to his career at a crucial stage. Yash has already taken years after KGF to finalise his next film, and the weight of expectations is immense on Toxic.
If Geetu Mohandas can channel her unconventional style into a strong final product, fans will accept it. But if the film does not meet expectations, the disappointment will be huge. For Yash and his audience, Toxic carries the responsibility of continuing the legacy built by KGF.
