With Hyderabad being the common capital for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Regional Passport Office (RPO) would continue to operate from Hyderabad and issue passports for the applicants from both states. According to RPO officials, the very first passport from Telangana issued on Monday, however the details of the person were kept secret. However, officials said, the applicant had mentioned Andhra Pradesh as his home State in the application form. The software changes the name from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana when a passport is being issues, says RPO official.
However, there is a passport office that’s been operating from Vizag to serve the needs of West Godavari, East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam. Vizag passport office started it’s operations in 1997 by bifurcating the RPO in Hyderabad.
Though, RPO is in Hyderabad, Telangana state, seekers from both states can continue to submit their applications as they did earlier, and Passport Seva Kendra at various locations in both states will continue to operate the same.
