YS Sharmila shifted to Andhra Pradesh Politics immediately after her failure in Telangana election and the Congress High Command made her the PCC Chief for its AP Unit.
Sharmila along with Viveka‘s daughter Sunitha put up a spirited campaign. The best part is that she knew her limitations and confined only to Kadapa district.
She made Viveka‘s murder a central issue and positioned herself opposite YS Avinash Reddy in Kadapa Parliament.
The whirlwind campaign definitely made a dent to YSR Congress in their stronghold district. But Sharmila could not win.
In fact, if not for a three-way contest, Avinash Reddy would have definitely lost to the TDP candidate. Leaving Kadapa Parliament aside, she definitely played a part in decimation of YSR Congress in the district.
YSR Congress could only win three seats in the district. If not for a BJP candidate in one of the seats, it would have been only two.
Thanks to Sharmila, Viveka‘s murder was also one of the election issues and convinced that people that the tyrannical rule has to be ended.
Even though Sharmila could not win, she will still take the result of decimating her brother. Everyone was surprised how Sharmila turned against her own brother and went to that extent.
