Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana Party (BCYP) president Ramachandra Yadav filed a petition regarding the same issue.

The Election Commission’s advocate, Avinash Desai, stated that around 62000 volunteers have resigned from their posts till now. He said that the EC took action against more than 9000 volunteers so far, who were allegedly working for YCP.

On the other side, petitioner’s advocate Umesh Chandra stated that if the resignations are approved, these volunteers will openly work for YCP during elections. He commented on the extensive authority held by the EC to conduct impartial elections and urged them to utilize this authority effectively.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court ordered the EC to file a counter to the petitioner’s arguments. The next hearing has been postponed for two weeks.

Last month, the Election Commission barred village volunteers from their duties until the conclusion of elections. The decision was taken when a few volunteers were caught participating in the campaign of the YSR Congress Party.

After getting barred from their duties, volunteers started resigning from their posts to campaign for YCP. Thus, the opposition parties moved to the court, requesting to hold their resignations.
