Chandrayanagutta MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi said a clear pattern is appearing in cases linked to the BRS and its top leaders. He told the Assembly that electoral bonds are now showing up in several such matters.
The younger Owaisi said electoral bonds are the common link in many BRS related cases. He referred to the phone tapping case involving Sandhya Convention Center owner Sridhar Rao. He claimed Rs 13 crore was given as electoral bonds.
Akbaruddin Owaisi also spoke about the Formula E-racing case. He said there are quid pro quo charges in this matter. According to him Rs 45 crore was given to the BRS through electoral bonds in this case.
He added that electoral bonds by a major contractor also surfaced in the Kaleswaram scam. Akbaruddin asked for a proper probe into these links. He raised this demand during the Assembly session.
Earlier MIM had friendly relations with the BRS during its 10 year rule. After the Congress came to power MIM shifted its support to the ruling party. That is why his sharp comments did not surprise many.
After his remarks BRS cadre are said to be uneasy. They fear Congress may use this new angle to target the party. The issue has added fresh political tension in Telangana.
