A case has been filed on Ambati Rambabu and several other YSRCP leaders. The charges include threatening the police and obstructing police duties. Cases were booked under BNS 188, 126(2), 851(8), and 188(2) read with 190. Police acted because rallies were taken out without permission, causing traffic disruption.
On Wednesday, YSRCP cadre held rallies under the name Praja Poru. The rallies were organised after a call from YSRCP chief Jagan. They were held to oppose the building of private medical colleges under the PPP model. However, the party did not obtain permission from the police.
The poliice had issued warnings earlier about strict action if rules were violated. But YSRCP cadres still went ahead with the rallies. When stopped, Ambati Rambabu argued with the police and created a scene. This led to tense moments in the area.
