Recently retired Cricketer Ambati Rayudu is going to contest the 2024 elections on the YSR Congress ticket. In the last couple of months, he started speaking in favor of the YSR Congress and dropped enough hints.
Immediately after his retirement announcement, he met YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and is now touring the villages of the Guntur district to understand the people and the problems pertaining to them.
So far so good but it is so sad that the talented cricketer is banking just on caste. He is touring the villages where there is a significant Kapu population. He is garlanding Vangaveeti Ranga statues wherever possible.
For those who do not know, Rayudu also belongs to the same community.
He tried to play the caste victim card saying MSK Prasad did not select him in Cricket World Cup. I-PAC drove the narrative further by that MSK Prasad (originally a Brahmin) a Kamma.
Rayudu is a cricket player and there is no caste in cricket. He will be popular among all sections of the people cutting the lines of caste, religion, creed, and region. He should have used that goodwill to attract people.
It pains so much to see him believe he can not sustain without the support of caste.
