AP Govt Gives Nod to Rs 43,358 Cr Green Projects

Andhra Pradesh green energy projects cleared

The Andhra Pradesh government has cleared major clean and green energy projects worth Rs 43,358 crore. These approvals were given by the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC) to boost renewable energy production across the state.

A total of 11 firms, including Hexa Energy, Serentica Renewables, Brightfuture Power and Hero Clean Energy, have received approval. Together, they will add 2600 MW through solar, wind, compressed biogas (CBG) and pumped storage projects.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a public sector company, will provide 1200 MWh of battery storage in Nandyal. This marks a significant leap in green energy infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.

A large portion of the investments are linked to pumped storage power. Navayuga Engineering will invest Rs 15,445 crore in Gujjili, Alluri Seetarama Raju district. Similarly, Chinta Green Energy is set to invest Rs 15,050 crore in Kadapa district.

Serentica Renewables will invest Rs 2400 crore in Anantapur and Kurnool to develop wind projects. Brightfuture Projects will set up a 350 MW wind unit in Anantapur with Rs 3286 crore. Hexa Energy plans a hybrid solar and wind project with Rs 1200 crore.

Refex Solar will invest Rs 480 crore to establish a solar unit in Sri Satya Sai district. Clean Renewable Energy will build a solar plant in Nandyal with an investment of Rs 1000 crore.

All these projects come under the Integrated Clean Energy Policy (ICEP), which aims to achieve 160 GW of renewable energy. The policy also envisions potential investments of nearly Rs 10 trillion in the sector.
