Army and Air force reportedly wrote to Andhra Pradesh government seeking 4000 acres of land. Usually all the state capitals will have such bases as Amaravati is near to the sea on the East Coast, this assumes even more significance.

Going forward, Amaravati is likely to be defense center in the East Coast. Airforce is seeking lands close to Gannavaram airport. Indian Air force promised to come up with air force base like in Hyderabad and Bangalore if the land is given.
However 4000 acres in Amaravati is not an easy task. Already the land acquisition for Gannavaram airport is taking too much toll on the state government, land near the airport will make things even more difficult.
