Satya Kumar Yadav, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, requesting to rename the YSR district.
Satya Kumar Yadav requested Naidu to name it YSR Kadapa district officially from the existing official name, YSR district. In his letter, Satya Kumar stated that Kadapa has a historical background and spiritual significance and thus, he opined it is not right to name it after YSR.
Sharing his letter on social media, Satya Kumar wrote, “Kadapa is the first door while reaching the adobe of Lord Venkateshwara in Devuni Kadapa. The name Kadapa has a historical background and spiritual significance.”
“Former CM YS Jagan, without understanding its historical significance, renamed the district to YSR, which I believe is incorrect. Therefore, I kindly request CM Chandrababu Naidu garu to amend the gazette and rename it as YSR Kadapa district,” he added.
In his letter, Satya Kumar Yadav mentioned that although people were unhappy with Kadapa being renamed “YSR,” they remained silent out of fear of the previous government.
“No one can deny YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s contributions to the development of the Kadapa district. Therefore, considering both Kadapa’s historical significance and YSR’s contributions, I respectfully request CM Chandrababu Naidu garu to rename the district as ‘YSR Kadapa District’,” he wrote.
