Former YSRCP MLC and Mohammed Iqbal, who recently resigned from the party and his MLC position, has now joined the Telugu Desam Party. Iqbal joined TDP in the presence of Nara Chandrababu Naidu today.
Iqbal was a former IPS officer. He worked as Inspector General (IG) in Rayalaseema in the past. He contested against Nandamuri Balakrishna for the Hindupur MLA seat in the last elections. However, he lost the elections. Later, he was given the MLC post. Even though his term is active till 2027, Iqbal decided to quit YCP.
Iqbal was reportedly upset when the Hindupur ticket was given to Deepika for the upcoming general elections. Apparently, he also had differences with the local YCP leaders which eventually led him to leave the party. In his resignation letter, Iqbal mentioned that he was leaving the party due to personal reasons.
This morning, he joined the TDP and extended his support to Balakrishna, who is contesting from Hindupur once again.
