The Tradition of Laddu Auction at Balapur Ganesh is on for more than 25 Years and the Laddu auction continues to create a new record every year. In 2021, the Laddu was picked up for 18.9 Lakhs.
This year, bettering the 2021 record, Vangeti Lakshma Reddy managed to get it with the highest bid of 24.6 Lakhs. Six locals and three non-locals competed for the Laddu in the auction.
The Laddu is considered very auspicious and lucky. It will be distributed to friends and well-wishers after performing puja and it will also be sprinkled in the fields for a better crop.
If locals win the Laddu, they will have time until next year to pay the money. Non-locals will have to pay the amount then and there itself.
The tradition of the Balapur Laddu auction began in 1994 and the first bid back then was 450 Rupees.
Meanwhile, today is Ganesh Nimajjanam day in Hyderabad. The immersion is happening peacefully. Statues are proceeding towards Hussainsagar and other ponds.
The tallest Khairatabad Ganesh is made of clay this year and will be immersed at the same spot where it is erected.
