Betrayal Day: Jagan Mohan Reddy Enjoys in Bengaluru

On June 4, Wednesday, YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy gave a call for state-wide ‘vennupotu dinam’ or betrayal day. He made a grand speech about it to his party cadre.

Jagan directed the cadre to give letters to the Collectors asking for the fulfillment of 6 election promises by the alliance government. But the the one person who was conspicuous by his absence was Jagan himself.

He was nowhere to be seen. In fact, the cadre waited for him to come out of his Tadepalli house. But Jagan was away, at his Bengaluru palace.

Naturally, the cadre was highly disappointed. The YSRCP leaders on the other hand were angry about Jagan betraying his party. They said it was Jagan’s vennupotu day of the party.

When an opposition leader calls for protest against the ruling party, the leader gives directions to the cadre and stands in the front. The police take the protestros to the police station and release them on bail. That is the norm.

Maybe Jagan feared going to the police. He slipped away to the Bengaluru palace. Normally, Jagan and wife go to Bengaluru during weekends.

After meeting rowdy sheeters on Tuesday, Jagan completely ignored the Wednesday programme and went away. This has led to deep frustration among the cadre.

There is open talk that June 4 turned out to be Jagan’s ‘vennupotu day’ for YSRCP.

Here, one other point has to be noted. During Jagan’s term, any call for protest meant police bandobast outside homes, house arrests and tracing people in case they took a bus or a train.

But the alliance government allowed Jagan’s party to carry out its agenda. Still, Jagan was missing. Goes without saying, there was no impact of the so-called vennupotu day.
