YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his YSR Congress Party seem to have pinned high hopes on the Special status issue to garner the attention of the people and win them. Jagan is aggressively pushing the issue into people with the hope that it will help the party in the upcoming local elections. After a series of Yuvabheris, Jagan also conducted a hangout with NRIs on the issue the other day.

But one big doubt is among all the YSR Congress leaders and the cadre. ‘Are we beating a dead horse?’ is that doubt. Unlike the days of Samayikya Andhra movement, the people are not coming on to the streets for the Special Status. They are in doubt if the sentiment really exists in the people or if they are trying to win a lost game.
But then Jagan is of the opinion that there is no other way or agenda for the party better than this and they should milk it to the fullest. The real effect of the issue and usefulness of Jagan’s fight can be calibrated only when the results of the local elections come. But if they are not in favor of YSR Congress, it will be danger bells for the party.
