YSR Congress is in absolute shambles in the Nellore district. The district was supposed to be the strong fort of the YSR Congress. In 2014, YSR Congress won seven out of the ten seats in the district, and in 2019, the party registered a clean sweep.
In such a district, the party is now struggling. With YSR Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy joining TDP, the party is struggling even more.
TDP claims that it has a clear edge in at least seven out of the ten seats of the district now.
Meanwhile, Blue Media is trying to put up a brave face after the exit of Vemireddy.
They are trying to portray that Vemireddy is only about money and he can not change the fortunes of TDP.
This is a clear case of sour grapes.
Vemireddy was offered the Nellore Parliament ticket and his wife, Prashanthi Reddy was offered an Assembly ticket. If Vemireddy is not worth it, why would Jagan offer two tickets in the first place?
To defeat Vemireddy, Jagan had to deploy Vijayasai Reddy who is not interested in electoral politics. Why this move if Vemireddy is not capable?
Nellore district YSR Congress is already dented with leaders leaving the party. Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Anam Ram Narayana Reddy, and Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy already left the party. Interestingly, all the four big leaders who left are from the Reddy community.
Nellore Parliament is a weak spot for the TDP mainly because of the Reddy community’s influence. Except for 1999, the party could not win the seat at least once. Now, they smell a real chance.
