Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhary has criticised BRS chief KCR for repeatedly blaming Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu whenever his party is out of power.
KCR has announced agitations across Telangana over the usage of Krishna and Godavari waters and the proposed Banakacherla project by the Andhra Pradesh government. The issue has once again triggered political tensions between the two Telugu states.
Gorantla stated that KCR was politically junior and rose through the TDP. He claimed KCR had launched agitations earlier due to disappointment over not receiving a Cabinet berth, which was instead given to Venkataramana Rao.
The MLA further alleged that KCR, KTR and other BRS leaders are now facing multiple issues in Telangana. He said their criticism of Chandrababu stems from political pressure and an inability to face current challenges.
Gorantla questioned the objection to using surplus water that would otherwise flow into the sea. He said the methods adopted by KCR and KTR to target Chandrababu were inappropriate and politically motivated.
He added that Chandrababu is actively pursuing the Banakacherla project to link rivers and ensure water supply for farmers in Andhra Pradesh. The project is expected to irrigate 7.5 lakh acres and benefit drought-prone regions of Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasam.
