A year earlier, we were discussing TRS’s joining the coalition government at the center but then things have taken an abrupt turn all of sudden and the Telangana Chief Minister all of sudden, revolted against the Modi Government.

KCR minced no words in saying that he will lead the Third Front against the two National Parties – BJP and Congress. BJP is currently ruling 21 states in the country and few others through its partners. There is actually a very little space even for Congress and so the third front is out of the equation.
But then, TRS claims that the announcement has got a huge response from the other parties across the country. What is the calculation that has prompted KCR to take this step? KCR is expecting BJP to stop at 200 seat mark in 2019 and Congress bagging 120 seats.
That would leave the Regional Parties with about 220 Seats. Such a scenario will lead to the 1996 United Front type of arrangement with Regional Parties having their own Prime Minister Candidate with Congress or BJP supporting from outside. As per the political scenario in the country, this calculation looks too optimistic at this moment. Also, all the regional parties have their own assumptions and aspirations, it will not be easy to stitch them together.
