The other day, the YSR Congress Central Office sent a message to the media about an important press meeting by Jagan.
“Dear Sir/Madam, You are cordially invited to attend a press conference by Shri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Hon’ble President of YSR Congress Party, scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 22, 2025, at the YSR Congress Party Central Office, Tadepalli. We sincerely request your valuable media coverage,” the message said.
There is a sense of urgency in the message, and that led to speculations of what is going to happen.
TV Channels gave scrollings saying that something sensational is going to happen.
A section of the media even speculated that Jagan would make crucial comments in the wake of his impending arrest in the Liquor Scam.
But then, the Press Meet turned out to be a routine one.
Like in the case of all Press Meets after the defeat, Jagan confined himself to singing praises of his tenure and blamed that nothing was happening in Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.
He carried a bunch of papers and read from it for more than two hours.
If there is anything new in the Press Meet, it is Jagan giving a clean-chit to the officials and Rajampet MP Midhun Reddy, who were named/arrested in the Liquor Scam.
During his previous tenures, Chandrababu Naidu used to have this bad habit of speaking for hours together in Press Meets and Review Meetings.
The officials and the Press used to get bored, and the message would not go into the people due to its length.
Chandrababu Naidu realized it after the 2019 defeat.
He changed himself a bit, and those lengthy Press Meets have become less frequent.
Somehow, Jagan Mohan Reddy picked up this habit. All his Press Meets are painfully lengthy with complex presentations, allegations, and self-praise.
Press Conferences should be crisp so that the important messages get through to the people. We are living in the age of YouTube Shorts and Insta Reels, which has decreased the attention span of the public.
Political Press Meets can not be such short. But 2-3 hours Press Meets will not serve the purpose at any cost.
