Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu is in New Delhi to meet the Union Ministers. Union Minister Manoharlal Khattar delivered the news to Chandrababu on Tuesday. The state had sent proposals for Metro in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.
Given this background, the Center has given green signal for the Vizag Metro. The DPR was submitted in early 2026. The Vizag Metro will be 76.9 km long. It will feature Asia’s longest bi-level viaduct.
A bi-level viaduct for the unversed means two levels where there could be a highway on the top and a railway track on the bottom or vice versa.
The line will run from the Steel Plant to Kommadi with 20+ stations. The Metro will pass through Gajuwaka, NAD Junction and RTC Complex. In the next phase, connectivity will be provided to Bhogapuram Airport.
Vizag is an urban city which is center of Vizag Economic Region. With the Chandrababu government developing it as an AI hub, the city needs to have top, world-class infrastructure. Connectivity is vital.
The Union government’s decision is already getting a huge positive response from Vizag citizens and rest of Andhra.
