Andhra Pradesh politics are largely personal and extremely direct in nature, and this became particularly prevalent after Jagan became the chief minister. The fact that he did not think twice before arresting a senior leader, Chandrababu Naidu is a blatant example.
However, the crucial difference between Jagan and Chandrababu is that the TDP supremo is not as violent and aggressive in nature.
Even today, Chandrababu spoke about the time when Jagan had him arrested, regardless of his seniority and experience, but how he is refrain from returning the favor.
“He got me arrested in a fabricated case when he was the chief minister. How much time would it take for me to get him arrested now? Don’t I have the experience and command to arrest him? But that is not the kind of politics that I am willing to do. Andhra Pradesh has lost a lot already and I don’t want to add political fury to it.” Chandrababu said.
A few comment that this is the difference between YS Jagan and Chandrababu. While Jagan is loaded with vengeance and direct political attack attacks on his opponents, Chandrababu is more statesman-like and mature by default.
If the political legacy of a politician is measured by direct physical attacks, then the state would be ruined. In the case of Chandrababu, he is measured mostly by development and stature. This is the principal reason why Chandrababu has been relevant in politics for more than four decades and continues to become the CM even to this day.
