Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had dedicated his ambitious Pattiseema project to the nation today. This is the first step in India towards the interlinking of rivers. Naidu had taken this project to interlink Godavari and Krishna rivers to bring water for drought infected Rayalaseema region.
The project was supposed to pump water today but the incessant rains in Coastal Andhra from the last week, delayed the project works by 10-15 days more. The project will be completed in around 150-160 days which is a record in modern India.
If Naidu also manages to complete Polavaram as well at this pace, his name will etched in the history books for generations to come. Interlinking of rivers is the only way of making India drought free. This was a dream project of Vajpayee endorsed by Naidu. But Vajpayee did not remain in power to execute it. But Narendra Modi still did not seem to have recognized the importance of this.
