Amid various speculations, Chandrababu Naidu made a smart move to deny the PAC Chairman Post to YSR Congress and at the same time, did not allow any chance of foul-crying.
There are nine members in the PAC Committee and the Chairman is elected from them. The tradition is that the Chairman is given to the Member from the Opposition.
That means the YSR Congress candidate stands a chance if he gets elected to the Committee.
TDP, Janasena, and BJP together fielded nine members and YSR Congress’s Peddireddy Rama Chandra Reddy also filed his nomination.
So, there are ten nominations for nine members of the PAC Committee making the Voting Compulsory.
Each Member should now get 19.44 votes, which means 20 MLAs support to win.
YSR Congress has only eleven MLAs and so, Peddireddy will naturally lose.
This is like – ‘Chandrababu gave a chance but did not give a chance to YSR Congress’.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Janasena’s Pulivarthi Ramanjaneyulu, the Bhimavaram MLA is likely to become the PAC Chairman.
Chandrababu had decided to give the post to Janasena.
The Committee headed by the PAC Chairman scrutinizes the accounts prepared by the Government. It is always better to have the Chairman who is not aligned with the Government check the accounts. Hence the tradition of giving the post to the Opposition.
Since the YSR Congress is not getting it, Chandrababu at least wants to give it to someone outside of the TDP.
