Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will tour Rajampet Constituency on September 1. After winning the elections, he has been visiting one constituency every month and distributing pensions. This month, his focus is on Rajampet.
Ahead of his visit, Chamarthi Jagan Mohan Raju was appointed as the TDP Incharge for the constituency. Even during the strong TDP wave in the 2024 elections, Sugavasi Balasubramanyam lost here to YSRCP candidate Akepati Amarnath Reddy.
In June, Sugavasi resigned from TDP and joined YSR Congress, shocking many. A leader leaving the ruling party with four years of tenure left created surprise, especially as it happened soon after the party’s Mahanadu in Kadapa district.
The crisis in Rajampet TDP did not end there. Followers of Bathyala Chengalarayudu recently protested against Chamarthi’s appointment. They argued that Bathyala’s work had been ignored and alleged that YCP coverts within TDP caused its defeat in Rajampet.
The group also announced that they would not accept Chamarthi’s leadership, who was previously the Parliament Incharge. Sugavasi had also quit for not being chosen as constituency incharge. Finally, the party high command confirmed Chamarthi Jagan Mohan Raju in the role.
With Chandrababu Naidu now touring Rajampet, it remains to be seen whether he will address the group politics and internal rifts. Naidu is expected to sit with all factions to resolve issues and restore unity in the constituency.
