Congress lost power after that in AP as well as Telangana. While Congress went to the 2018 elections in Telangana with other parties, it is not the case in Andhra Pradesh. The party contested all alone in two straight elections and drew a blank. However, the grand old Party managed partners after more than a decade in AP.

In the local elections of Andhra Pradesh, Congress managed to forge an alliance with CPM and Indian Muslim League. Interestingly, the other communist party, CPI is going to this alliance along with the main opposition party, Telugu Desam Party. However, CPM is not in a great position in AP to impact electoral fortunes of Congress.

But then, Congress can take solace from the fact that it is no longer untouchable in Andhra Pradesh Politics. The local elections in Andhra Pradesh are happening in Three phases and the entire exercise will be completed by 29th of this month.
