Congress leaders are showing fake patriotism in the name of Telangana. Pawan Kalyan’s comments on Telangana Dishti have triggered a loud reaction, and you now see leaders rushing to the media. Some are giving threats, and some are abusing him.
When you look at the noise, you start asking what this chatter is about. The Congress Government in Telangana has completed two years in power and is celebrating the occasion on a grand scale. Yet the leaders remain focused on attacking Pawan Kalyan.
Panchayat elections are also underway in the state. With the BRS morale at its lowest after the Jubilee Hills By-election loss, this is the best time for the ruling party to capture as many Panchayats as possible. Still, leaders are wasting time on unwanted debates.
If they think Telangana sentiment works in local polls, they are wrong because Panchayat elections revolve around local issues. Whenever the Telangana sentiment enters the picture, the BRS gains from it. Congress has never used that sentiment to its advantage.
The Telangana Rising Global Summit is set to take place in Future City on December 8th and 9th. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy plans to attract global investors and send a strong message after two years in office. But leaders are ignoring the summit to continue Pawan Kalyan bashing.
You now wonder what purpose this serves. Leaders look like they are competing for space in media and social media. Pawan Kalyan and Janasena hold no relevance in Telangana politics, and people did not take his comments seriously.
The current behaviour is unnecessary. At most, Congress leaders risk losing a few votes from Pawan Kalyan fans. The rest of the state is simply not bothered.
