Congress is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen its base in Telangana. The party is looking forward to winning the most seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
It is trying to be two steps ahead of the opposition parties in its strategies. Along with Lok Sabha elections, Telangana will have by-polls in the Cantonment Assembly constituency due to the recent demise of its MLA Lasya Nanditha.
Congress wants to win this seat at any cost. Thus, the party leaders roped in the local BJP leader Sri Ganesh Narayanan under their hood.
Sri Ganesh, who was campaigning for BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Etela Rajender till Tuesday afternoon, jumped into Congress by night.
In the last elections, Sri Ganesh secured the second position and Gaddar’s daughter Vennela, who represented Congress, got the third position.
Reportedly, CM Revanth Reddy wanted someone stronger than Vennela this time. When his sources conducted a local survey, it was found that Sri Ganesh enjoys a good following and reputation among people in the Cantonment area.
Immediately, Congress leaders Mynampally Hanumantha Rao and Patnam Mahender Reddy got in touch with him. As per sources, Sri Ganesh said that he will join the party if it assures him a ticket. As he got assurance, he joined Congress at TPCC Working President Mahesh Kumar’s residence last night.
On the other side, BJP leaders are shell-shocked by this sudden twist by Congress. They need to find a replacement for Sri Ganesh in Cantonment.
Meanwhile, Lasya Nanditha’s sister Niveditha has been demanding BRS to give her a ticket. However, BRS is yet to take a call on the same.
