Former team India cricketer and Hyderabad Cricket Association chief Azharuddin has faced a shocker at the Supreme Court following an unfavourable judgement at the Telangana high court.
Going into the story, Nalgonda District Cricket Association approached the High Court in 2021, asking to order the HCA to permit them in the league matches that are played under HCA.
After investigation, the high court ordered HCA, and its then president Azharuddin to permit NDCA to take part in the league matches.
However, Azharuddin and the HCA didn’t follow the orders of the Telangana high court and it got to a point where NDCA players weren’t even allowed to get registered under the HCA.
Then, in 2022, NDCA approached the high court again, saying HCA and its then chief Azharuddin were intentionally flouting the court order.
The high court then filed a contempt of court case against Azharuddin. He approached the Supreme Court regarding the order but the apex court quickly turned down the appeal, saying this is a clear case of contempt of court and they can’t encourage it any further.
