During the meeting with the YCP’s counting agents on May 29, Sajjala said that the party doesn’t need people who follow the rules as its counting agents. He also ordered his agents to subdue the agents of rival parties or even the Election Commission officials on the counting day.

These comments sparked huge controversy in political circles and immediately, the TDP leaders filed a complaint against Sajjala.

Telugu Desam Party leaders Devineni Uma and Gudapati Lakshmi Narayana filed a complaint to the Tadepalli police stating that Sajjala’s comments are highly provocative and also may affect the counting process on June 4.

In the complaint, the TDP leaders also stated that the Returning Officers didn’t make arrangements to set up CCTV cameras at the places where the counting agents will be seated and suggested that YCP leaders may go to the extent of creating violence in counting centres, especially when the margins are close.

The police have taken the complaint and registered a criminal case on Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy under the IPC sections 153, 505 and 125.
