The privatisation of the Vizag Steel Plant has been one of the most talked about topics in Andhra Pradesh political circles these days. Now, former CBI JD Lakshminarayana has made a comical statement in this regard.
“The Vizag Steel Plant is like a child to the people of Andhra Pradesh. It is our responsibility to save it at all costs” Lakshminarayana said.
“All we need to do is orchestrate a crowdfunding plan to save the steel plant from privatisation. For that to happen, 8.5 crore people need to donate Rs 100 for four months. That way, we can amass Rs 850 crore per month. That should be enough to save the steel plant,” he said.
But what’s to be noted here is that this plan is near impossible to implement. Expecting 8.5 crore people to donate Rs 100 per month for four months is more like a joke.
JD Lakshminarayana already lost a large chunk of the public’s respect with the defeat in 2019 elections. Now, with crowdfunding jokes like these, he will only go on to lose more of the respect.
If JD intends to be active in 2024 elections, it is important to save his credibility. But with comments like these, he will be defeating his own cause.
