The World Bank authorities met up with officials of Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) to discuss the progress of Amaravati, capital city and the multiple projects associated with it.

The World Bank authorities discussed the progress of various constructions being funded by World Bank loans with ADC CMD D Lakshmi Parthasarathy.

The main focus though was on the water facility for the new capital city. The World Bank authorities questioned about the various infrastructural activities that were being taken up.

Apart from providing information about water facilities, the ADC authorities also presented the team with information about treating water and supplying it.

CMD Lakshmi Parthasarathy also explained about the tenders called for water treatment plants and overhead tanks.

The World Bank had sanctioned $800 million loan for Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Programme (AIUDP) in December 2024.

It is meant to make Amaravati a climate-resilient, sustainable growth center. The loans were given to develop infrastructure and institutions to provide economic opportunities for residents.

It was also meant for a flood management system to make the city safe from future flooding. The loans are also meant to better the lives of those most vulnerable.




Apart from World Bank, Asia Development Bank has also given a loan of $788.8 million.
