Danam Nagender All Set To Resign?

Danam Nagender resignation speculation

Strong rumours are circulating in political circles that Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender is considering resignation. He is among the 10 defecting MLAs who received notices from the Telangana Speaker.

The BRS approached the Supreme Court seeking disqualification of these 10 MLAs, who won on BRS tickets but later shifted to the Congress after the elections. The Supreme Court directed the Telangana Speaker to take a decision on the matter.

Following the order, the Speaker issued notices to all 10 MLAs. Eight responded, while Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari have not replied yet. On Thursday, the Speaker sent fresh notices to both.

Discussions around Danam have intensified. Political insiders say that since he contested for the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket while still being the Khairatabad MLA, giving an explanation now may complicate the inquiry for him.

If the inquiry goes against him, it could seriously affect his political future. Close associates say Danam is considering resignation to avoid negative consequences.

The Congress recently won in Jubilee Hills with a majority of 25,000 votes. With voters appearing to support the party, Danam is reportedly thinking of resigning and contesting again in the Khairatabad by election. His followers say this view is shared by Congress leaders as well.

Danam also travelled to Delhi on Thursday and met senior Congress leaders. He is said to be confident about winning Khairatabad and is reportedly bargaining for a cabinet berth. His followers believe he may resign very soon.

Though Danam originally belonged to the Congress, he later moved to the TDP and then to the BRS for political gains. Now, with the BRS losing ground, he is once again preparing for a return to the Congress.
