The TDP’s stronghold in Prakasam district has remained steadfast, even amid challenging times, as evidenced by its victory in four Assembly segments in the 2019 elections.
However, the dynamics in Darsi have undergone significant changes, with the YSRCP fielding Buchepalli Siva Prasad Reddy as its candidate after initially considering Jana Sena for the seat.
TDP’s plans to invite former minister Siddha Raghava Rao into the party for the Darsi constituency were met with opposition from Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, prompting TDP to search for an alternative candidate. Eventually, Gottipati Lakshmi emerged as the TDP candidate, setting the stage for a contest between her and Buchepalli in Darsi.
Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Darsi has injected enthusiasm into the alliance ranks, drawing a diverse crowd, including women, elderly individuals, and children, despite the scorching heat. The growing public interest in the TDP alliance is evident from the turnout at Naidu’s meeting.
Gottipati Lakshmi has been impressing voters with her articulate speeches, addressing issues directly and providing clear reassurances. Her approachable demeanor, coupled with her commitment to work honestly in line with the aspirations of the people, has earned her the trust of many.
Magunta Srinivasulareddy, the TDP alliance candidate for the Ongole Lok Sabha seat, brings decades of experience and extensive connections with people from various backgrounds. His candidacy has prompted several followers from YSRCP to switch allegiance to TDP, further bolstering the party’s prospects in Darsi.
With these developments and the growing support for the TDP alliance, it appears increasingly likely that TDP will emerge victorious in the Darsi constituency in the upcoming elections.
