Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was supposed to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani but the latter chose to stay away from it. Chandrababu got the invitation as an ally of NDA and he attended all such ceremonies previously.

Naidu sent Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu instead and kept away saying that he has a State Level Bankers Conference to attend. But then, the reason does not sound good, some people feel. Naidu should have easily postponed that, if he really wanted to, they say.
Speculations are that this is to mark the dissent for stopping the works of Upper Coffer Dam of Polavaram. They say that Naidu has indicated to the NDA Bosses that his interest in BJP lies with the interests of the state and that cannot be compromised.
With 2019 elections approaching, not so good Gujarat results and the shocking result of Tamil Nadu, BJP should start respecting its partners and can not take them granted as things indicate they may not get an absolute majority the next time. Naidu may have reminded Modi at the right time.
