Eatala Rajender, the Malkajgiri BJP MP, is reportedly unhappy with the party. He has not hidden his dissatisfaction in recent days. Strong rumours suggest that he may be preparing to exit the Saffron party.
Eatala had his eyes on the BJP state chief post. At one stage, there was talk that the high command had decided on him for the role. However, the position went to Ramachander Rao, which angered Eatala.
His strained ties with Bandi Sanjay have also added to his frustrations. The two leaders often clash in oneupmanship. Eatala is believed to have told his associates that he feels disrespected in BJP. His recent remarks hint that he is considering quitting.
While inaugurating the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in Uppal, Eatala said that holding a post without respect was equal to having nothing. He recalled that he gave up his MLA post during the Telangana agitation. He noted that in 20 years, he could have been MLA four times but was elected seven times.
He emphasised that their struggle was for self respect and self governance. He also underlined the need for the younger generation to learn about the lives of great leaders and movements like the Telangana movement.
Political analysts believe that Eatala’s repeated stress on self respect points towards his next political move. They say he may be preparing to quit BJP soon.
However, challenges lie ahead for Eatala. He had earlier walked out of BRS after a tiff. Now, if he leaves BJP, his only possible option would be Congress. But whether Congress would welcome him, given his strong stance on self respect, remains uncertain.
