Earlier today, the Supreme Court of India announced that the electoral bonds that have been in circulation since 2017 are banned with immediate effect. This would mean that political parties can no longer benefit from these anonymous ledgers.
Coming to the topic, here is a look at how much monetary gains TDP and YCP got through these electoral bonds.
To date, YCP got Rs 382.44 crore through these electoral bonds. The opposition party, Telugu Desam got Rs 146 crore. Interestingly, YCP got more than double that of TDP through these anonymous donations.
BRS got RS 383 crore through these electoral bonds. The KCR-led party benefitted the most from these bonds.
Coming to national parties, BJP got a mighty Rs 6565 crore through these bonds while Congress got Rs 1122 crore.
It is known that these electoral bonds can be bought by individuals and corporations and the pledged amount will anonymously go to designated political parties.
